Desert Botanical Garden Jun Kaneko Exhibit

01/05/2018

The Garden has had some amazing art exhibits placed within the numerous desert plantings over the years.

In 2009 there was a large Chihuly exhibit, which of course, we went to and it is on our web site. Amazing.

This time it is Jun Kaneko. He is a sculptor who specializes in very large pieces, mostly heads but also a fun adaptation of Tunuki.

A Tanuki is a Japanese racoon dog. It has been part of Japanese folklore for centuries. In the tales it is mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absentminded.

I think these figures are a very good example. And they are huge
